Build Community: Connect with other people who love Latin American culture and Spanish and want to help make Richmond a more welcoming place for everyone.
Audience: Low intermediate community-minded Spanish learners.
Low intermediate (or higher beginner) learners have memorized a lot of basic functional vocabulary and phrases. You can conjugate verbs for the present, simple future, and simple past (preterit) tenses, but you need refreshers and time to think in conversation.
Community-minded learners are involved in social good in our community through organizing, volunteering or working.
Investment: $375 - This is a short-term, three-week intensive program designed to provide a profound learning experience.
Notes:
This is a unique opportunity to participate in an immersive Spanish experience. Our aim is to communicate primarily in Spanish – one of the best ways to learn! English will be used only when necessary. Participants should have a basic conversational ability in Spanish. If you are unable to engage in a simple Spanish conversation, this program may not be suitable at this time. We can provide resources to help you prepare.
The focus is on comprehension and speaking in a supportive environment. We do not provide formal grammar instruction, sentence structure lessons, writing review, or grammar correction.
Frida Exhibit is included, but coffee and lunch are not included in the program fees, because part of the experience is ordering for yourself in Spanish. We will visit restaurants with affordable pricing where you may spend between $12-$25 on coffee and lunch.
The immersive experience requires a lot of walking. We will walk close to 4 miles throughout the morning.
Future Opportunities: We plan to offer this program quarterly, with future immersive experiences that will focus on other important topics within our community. If you are not able to attend this session, but are interested in future opportunities, please sign up on our interest list.
